CHAMBER COMMITTEES

AMBASSADORS
The Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors serve as official hosts at chamber functions and various community event and promote membership development through membership surveys, recruitment and retention campaigns. Membership is limited to twenty with new Ambassadors chosen as vacancies occur. Meetings are held monthly.

COMMUNITY APPEARANCE
This committee works to encourage the city and chutney to adopt innovative ways to enhance the overall physical attractiveness of our community. Meetings are held bi-monthly.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS
This committee provides support for and SAT's current on local issues, concerns and projects that affect and encompass the entire comity. Some areas of focus include university, diversity as well as international issues. Meetings are held monthly with subcommittees meeting as necessary.

EDUCATION
This committee plans and implements a program that unites business and industry with are schools. Volunteers also develop an appreciation program for local educators. Meeting are called as necessary.

GOVERNMENT RELATIONS
This committee works to develop strategies for working with local government. Volunteers also stay abreast of current legislative issues as they relate to the Chamber and its members. This committee hosts legislative updates during the legislative session and also coordinates a luncheon for local legislators in Jackson. Meeting are held monthly.

MILITARY AFFAIRS
This committee provides support to local, regional and visiting military units through appreciation events and recognition programs. They stay abreast of the latest federal military activities another impact on region and provide support as necessary. This committee plans and organizes the annual Salute to the Military and assists Eagles over Mississippi. This committee meets monthly.

RETIREMENT
The retirement committee identifies and markets the attributes of the Starkville Area as a retirement community and provides information on services available to retirees and retiree prospects. Meetings are held quarterly with subcommittees meetings being called as necessary.

SMALL BUSINESS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
This committee serves as a venue for small business to address issues of importance to members. They host quarterly seminars with speakers focusing on small business needs, entrepreneur needs, as well as provide opportunities for networking. Subcommittees and task forces are called as necessary with overall committee meeting monthly.

SPECIAL EVENT ORGANIZATION COMMITTEE
This committee plans and organizes special events that are related to community development. Some events are annual events, others may need to be planned and implemented as opportunities arise. Meeting are held as needed.

SUNRISE STARKVILLE POWER BREAKFAST COMMITTEE
This committee is responsible for organizing monthly breakfast meetings designed to feature programs of interest to the Chamber membership as well as the community at-large. This committee meets quarterly for planning purposes as well as meeting monthly to coordinate the breakfasts. Ê
