The City of Starkville Planning Department reviews and makes recommendations on all development projects within the city, enforces the city's zoning ordinance, provides code compliance inspections for all types of construction and performs engineering services for all city departments.

PLANNING DEPARTMENT

Specific responsibilities include:

• Zoning Ordinance enforcement                   

• Preliminary plat review                                

• Site plan review                                                 

• Sign ordinance review                                            

• Assist public and developers with zoning questions 

• Code compliance

• Planning & Zoning Agenda's and Minutes

• Proposed Development Code / Zoning and Land Use Regulations.

BUILDING DEPARTMENT  

Specific responsibilities include:  

• Plan inspection

• Issuance of commercial and residential building permits

• Commercial and residential building inspections

• Assist public, builders, and developers with questions
