Sporting Opportunities

Public Parks

The Starkville Parks and Recreation Department maintains seven city parks. Facilities include two public swimming pools, tennis and racquetball courts, baseball, softball and soccer fields and play areas and equipment for small children.

Hunting, Fishing & Water Sports

Hunting, fishing, bird watching, hiking, boating and water skiing are all available within a very short distance. Spanning 47,000 acres, the Noxubee National Wildlife is a man-developed waterfowl refuge with two lakes, nature trails and a bird sanctuary. Fishing is permitted in all refuge waters, and hunting is allowed in selected areas. Public land and private hunting clubs also provide an abundance of hunting opportunities. Oktibbeha County Lake and the Tennesse-Tombigbee Waterway are nearby for swimming, boating, skiing and fishing.

Tennis courts are located on the MSU campus, at Starkville Country club and in the city parks system.
