Starkville currently has over 200 acres in park land that is home to community and neighborhood parks, playgrounds, athletic facilities, indoor basketball courts, a swimming pool, a splash-pad, pavilions, meeting spaces, and more. Starkville Parks and Recreation has what you and your family need to make your indoor and outdoor activities convenient and fun.
Overview of Facilities
George Evans Park is located on Spring Street. It includes basketball courts and playground equipment, and is home to the Needmore Center, which is located at 610 East Gillespie Street.
J.L. King Senior Memorial Park is located at 400 North Long Street. It includes a multipurpose/football field (unlighted), a 300 ft softball/baseball field (lighted) with adjacent pavilion and restroom, two recently-renovated basketball courts, a splash-pad, and 7-hole disc golf course. The J. L. King Center and a playground are also located here.
Josey Park is located on Josey Avenue. This small park includes playground equipment and green space. No restroom available.
McKee Park is located on Lynn Lane. This park houses six youth baseball fields, three tennis courts, four outdoor pickleball courts, Starkville’s largest playground space known as the Kidplex, a musical trail, and one basketball court. Its buildings include a centralized concession stand, two pavilions, and two restroom facilities.
Moncrief Park is located at 310 North Jackson Street. It includes playground equipment, a pavilion with restroom, a playground, a sand volleyball court, the Moncrief pool, and is home to Starkville’s Dog Park.
Patriots Park is located at the corner of Whitfield Street and Avenue of Patriots. This community park has a pavilion and playground equipment. No restroom available.
Starkville Sportsplex is located at 405 Lynn Lane. It includes eight softball fields with two restrooms, seven soccer fields with a restroom, and the Travis Outlaw Center, which is home to two indoor basketball courts, an indoor walking track, two meeting rooms, an aerobics room, two racquetball courts, and SPRD staff offices.
Fire Station Park (Lampkin St) - this park is leased by the Greater Starkville Development Partnership and is used for the Community Farmer’s Market and a variety of events.
Cornerstone Park is an exciting new sportsplex coming to Starkville! It will feature 10 ballfields, 2 T-ball fields, a pavilion and green space area, with a walking track around the entire complex. Cornerstone is currently under construction located on South Highway 25.
In addition to these parks, the public has access to a number of local school playgrounds after 4 p.m. on weekdays and on weekends. Please note these facilities do not have access to restrooms. These include:
Overstreet Elementary (Green St) - playgrounds and a multiuse field/green space.
Henderson-Ward-Stewart Elementary (Pilcher St) - playground, basketball court, multi-use field, pavilion.
Sudduth Elementary (Greenfield St) - playgrounds, pavilion, green space.
Armstrong Middle School (Whitfield St) - outdoor exercise equipment, green space.
