The Human Relations Department/Office serves as a neutral location whose purpose is to safeguard equal employment opportunities for all residents of the City of Starkville. Our office promotes civil rights and strives to ensure an equitable environment free from discrimination. Our office upholds the Code of Ordinances of the City of Starkville and our personnel policy manual, which prohibits discrimination and provides equal opportunity to all employment candidates, without regard to their race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, gender, pregnancy, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, military status, protected veteran status (specifically status as a disabled veteran, recently separated veteran, armed forces service medal veteran, or active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran) or other classification protected by applicable federal, state or local law. We are an impartial fact-finding department that investigates and resolves allegations of illegal discrimination occurring in our City departments. Our office also seeks to prevent discrimination and create an equitable and inclusive community through education and training.
