Fire Marshal's Division

Responsibilities

The Starkville Fire Department's Fire Marshal Division currently has two fire inspectors and four fire investigators. The Fire Marshal Division is responsible for code enforcement, fire inspection, public education, pre-planning, fire investigations, open burning, and assisting the fire chief and other departmental personnel in an advisory or support capacity. This division also has the additional responsibility of inspecting of dorms, sororities, fraternities, and other buildings on the campus of Mississippi State University.

Public Education

The Public Education and Inspection Division oversees the training and educational programs for the City of Starkville general public targeting the age groups that are more vulnerable to fire accidents and injuries. The public education officer coordinates the training and safety awareness of the general public and provides assistance and support to enhance fire safety and prevention to all those possible. Fire Investigations

Starkville Fire Department conducts all origin and cause fire investigations. We currently have 4 fire investigators that rotate on call. All investigators are certified in NFPA 1033 Professional Qualification for Fire Investigators.
