Cornerstone was originally allocated as an industrial park back in 2016. It is currently being transformed into a 12 field Sports Complex that will pave a pathway for future MSU students to develop a loyalty and following to MSU and Starkville athletics. Cornestone will hosts a myriad of regional tournaments and offer a plethora of recreational opportunities. "First Pitch" is expected early summer of 2022!
What Makes Cornerstone Unique?
Did you know that T-ball originated in Starkville in 1961? What better way to commemorate such a legacy than through Cornerstone. Cornerstone will have two T-ball fields dedicated to this historic achievement.
Another historic achievement to be featured at Cornerstone will be the Cool Papa Bell Plaza and Statue. James Thomas "Cool Papa" Bell was born and raised in Starkville, Mississippi. He was an American center fielder in Negro league baseball from 1922 to 1946. He is considered to have been one of the fastest men ever to play the game. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974.
Cornerstone participants will play on the same outfield surface as Mississippi State players at Dudy Noble on Bermuda “Latitude” outfield grass.
