The City of Starkville is preparing to commence construction on the Louisville Street Multi-Use path project as soon as next week. This project will provide a 10' wide concrete multi-use path from the intersection of Lynn Lane to Emerson School. The path will be located on the west side of Louisville Street and will incorporate several SMART bus stop locations. This project is a part of the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) with the majority of the funds coming from a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) grant. More information about the TAP program can be found here: fhwa.dot.gov/environment/transportation_alternatives Safety of the traveling public along with the construction personnel is paramount so all efforts to create a safe working and traveling environment will be utilized. The traveling public is encouraged to use caution along this corridor for the next several months and to occasionally expect delays including temporary road closures. Gregory Construction Company out of Columbus, MS will be performing the work for the City of Starkville. To report any construction related issues or concerns, please contact Lonnie Moore, Project Superintendent for Gregory Construction, at 662-328-2225. Construction plans are available for public viewing at City Hall located at 110 West Main Street or at the City's website: cityofstarkville.org.
