On April 1, 2019 the City of Starkville sanitation fees will slightly increase. The increase will be clearly marked on your bill as "Landfill Costs". Changes are highlighted.
The need for the additional funding is in preparation for the cost associated with the remediation required by MDEQ at the landfill. The work will require engineering costs and construction costs followed by some regular, ongoing, periodic maintenance costs after closure of the landfill.
