We need a policy change when it comes to the hours our bars stay open. Serving times during the week should be extended at least another 30 minutes. This results in more money being made for the business. Also, it will benefit the residents of Starkville because people are still ready to party at 1:00 am, and it forces the parties to be moved to residential areas. This can be a nuisance for members of society that do not attend the bars. Bar owners must be concerned about everyone leaving their bar at the same time and causing crowding in front of their establishment. (Which occurs quite frequently in the Cotton District and Downtown.) If the bars were to stay open later, not everyone would leave all at the same time, and many people would leave earlier than closing time to cut down on the congestion. This is just a simple idea that I would like to receive some feedback on. Thanks.

A good and fun way to draw attraction to town during the Spring, Summer, and Fall months. A full-size Water Park for Mississippi State fans and Mississippians in general.
I drew up a few concept images, including the park's mascot, WetDawg.
http://i59.tinypic.com/4jte9j.jpg
Unofficial Banner and slogan.
http://i59.tinypic.com/qsny55.jpg
The park could be built in between the campus and the cotton district.
http://i57.tinypic.com/124hix0.jpg
There will be many attractions including:
- Three 100ft Waterslides
- A 14 mile long lazy river.
- An aquarian/petting zoo.
- An Applebee's Bar and Grill.
- AND MORE!
Here are some more concept images for the future park.

Imagine the amount of revenue and attention that a water park would garner right in Mississippi's college town.

I think it is a terrible mistake for the P&Z Board to make in letting Christopher Krtizman build his proposed residential and commercial facility on University Drive. WHAT were you thinking? Traffic is already congested on that main thoroughfare to campus, and don't think those students living there will actually walk to campus! There are vacant apartments all over town and we do not need additional places for students to live. Someone suggested that some of you planning and zoning people must be losing your minds and I am beginning to wonder!

The progress Starkville has made in recent years has led to the need for a traffic engineer. The city is growing with the Hwy 182 area developing, yet it is still a two-lane road with traffic lights that appear to be on timers (with 2 schools accessed from it).The traffic lights on 182 are set to change in such a way that prevent the flow of traffic during busy times. There are a few issues in the downtown area as well.At the intersection of Montgomery and University facing Northbound in the left turn lane, the signal only lasts long enough for one vehicle to turn.Traffic has increased on DL Connor coming from both the North and Southbound lanes, but no changes have been made to the signal.A traffic engineer could benefit both the city and the university in regard to planning for crowds attending events at MSU which brings revenue to the city as well. Our roads and traffic signals need updating to allow for greater ease when traveling through town particularly during high volume times.

The new Kroger parking lot does a disservice to the expanded and renovated store. The aisles are too narrow and the spaces too close together, presumably because, per order of the BOA, medians were required and the parking spaces had to be changed from slanted to straight. I don't know if any accidents have occurred yet, but if not, I expect there will be many. Just yesterday, in order to avoid hitting another car, I had to triangulate out of a space (because the truck parked immediately across the aisle from my car was not pulled up all the way into the space and there wasn't enough room left for me to back out without multiple forward/reverse maneuvers). I've heard many complaints from other residents, as has Kroger. Surely some engineering/design can be done to improve this situation for one of the flagship businesses of Starkville.

Having a frequently asked questions section and forum for pet owners would be great. Some topics, such as best practices for pet waste disposal are not covered very well.

The intersection at Lampkin and South Montgomery is four-way with turn lanes, and moderated only by stop signs. Probably six times in the last year I have witnessed near-accidents at this intersection from people who did not completely stop or yield right-of-way at this intersection. I feel that the intersection is unsafe in its current condition. My suggestion is to install traffic lights to better moderate the flow of traffic.

I run very early every morning (around 4am because of my work schedule). I love running in Starkville because I always feel safe, especially with my 2 dogs. The only problem is that sometimes I have to use the bathroom midrun and there is no place that is open or a public bathroom anywhere. I think it would be a good idea to set up a small bathroom at a park or near campus or something, I'm sure there are others who would benefit from it as well. Especially on game day when Starkville get crowded and everyone if out drinking and eating.
